i received about 6 rounds of Taxol/Carboplatin every 3 weeks, which was later modified as I had a hard time handling it. I also received 10 rounds of radiation to one of my rib bones. I will be starting chemotherapy again in the next month or so almost assuredly, as I now have been dx with kidney disease. I will update what my next treatment will be once I find out.

Hi Everyone,
Just posted my story (or to be precise my wife"s story in that section).
She had 6 cycles of chemotherapy lasting almost 4 months and had various side effects which I had to find solutions for as any professional I asked just said that every one and every treatment is different .Not very clear.
Her particular treatment caused her to have to be rushed to hospital on 2 occassions with failing kidneys, dehydration and dangerously low blood pressure. On another occassion she had to have 2 blood transfusions due to a low blood count.
She"s had: very bad cuts on her heels which looks like burn marks. I had to treat this with aquaes cream, sudacrem and e45 moisturiser. Rough skin on her hands ,again treated with aqueas cream.
Discolouration of the skin on her hands-no particular treatment for that.
The usual loss of facial and head hair.
Some sickness but more feeling sick.
Sometimes watering of the eyes or the opposite when she cannot open them.
Dizziness, breathlessness, weak, tired. (still has these even after chemo stopped for 6 weeks).Sometimes feeling quite depressed.
I take a daily reading of her blood pressure and temperature in order to be more aware
of how she is doing and be in a better position to alert a doctor early enough.
I believe all of this will stop in time.It has been a very difficult time for both of us but I try to stay positive otherwise you cannot cope. I hope that some of this info is helpful to some of you . Speak to you again soon. JimbePosted 1 year ago # -
Hi folks ,
Just to update you on my wife"s situation.
She is still quite weak and tires easily and still has some breathlessness. She has been recently given 2 anti-biotics which appeared to have improved things a bit. However we have to wait another week to see how she is and if any other treatment is needed.Doctor thinks she has an infection in her lungs. Don"t know if this is chemotherapy related. Has anyone had this experience during treatment? We are hoping that she is able to go on holiday next month as planned. So we are keeping our fingers crossed. On a positive note she is happy that her hair is growing back. She sees her oncologist next month and we will see what he has to say about everything Speak to you again soon. JimbePosted 1 year ago #
